Add the Sizzix System Converter and you can instantly emboss elegant images with a wide selection of Simple Impressions Embossing Folders or die-cut many detailed designs with Sizzlits low-profile dies. The Original Sizzix Personal Diecut Machine is compatible with many varieties of dies and embossing items. Although embossing with the Sizzix machine is not as simple as with the Sizzix BigKick and Provo Craft Cuttlebug Machines, it works perfectly with the Sizzix Embossing Folders. The Sizzix Personal Diecut Machine has very few moving parts which increases its durability. The sturdy construction of this 15 pound machine keep it in place and do not cause undue stress on the diecut machine. The most frequently problematic part of the Sizzix Machine is the replacement pad. The Sizzix Replacement Pad needs to be replaced often to ensure unmarred diecuts. The replacement pad is made of a plastic type material and depending on the force you use with the Sizzix Personal Diecut Machine, may create scars on the pad. The increase the life of your replacement pads, use only as much pressure as needed with your machine. If you find you are not getting clean cuts, add a shim to the underside of the replacement pad and try again. The Sizzix Machine is durable and the same machine has lasted this paper crafter over 5 years of healthy diecutting. It is still in my craft closet and will remain probably until the end of time. The Sizzix collection of products includes just a few optional items. The Sizzix Sizzlits Adapter is just about a must have in the world of diecuts. By utilizing the Adapter, you increase your available dies by about 100%!!! That is right, by adding just one item to your collection you have the capability to make over twice as many die cuts as before! From time to time, popular dies may become out of stock and remain until a new shipment is received from overseas. It is rumored that the Sizzix Machine will be discontinued to allow Sizzix marketing to concentrate on the newer machines so make sure you pick one up while they are still available! The Sizzix Personal Diecut Machine weighs just about 15 pounds which makes it moderately portable. The weight of the machine is not balanced due to the platform design so be careful when you pick it up. It fits perfectly in the base of most scrapbook totes. Sizzix has also released their own tote designed to hold the Sizzix Machine, the Sizzix Adapter and a number of Sizzix dies. The Sizzix Machine does work on most surfaces but will perform best on hard flat counters or tables. It is left to the discretion of the paper crafter where and when they would like to diecut, but for those of us running around all the time, the Sizzix Machine has been tested in any and all circumstances and still come out shining. |
